TMA Girls Tennis Advances to FHSAA Regionals
For the first time in school history, The Master's Academy varsity girls tennis team has qualified for the FHSAA Regional Championships, set for April 21.
TMA secured its spot by finishing second at the district tournament, where teams earn one point for each match won in singles and doubles play. The Eagles totaled 17 points, narrowly edging Circle Christian (16) to advance.
Day two of competition featured several historic performances. In the No. 3 singles final, sixth-grader
Clara Barnhart defeated top-seeded Astrid Feeny (senior) of Geneva, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, becoming one of the youngest district champions in history. Barnhart enters regionals undefeated at 15-0 in No. 3 singles.
Eighth-grader
Anelye Camacho delivered another standout performance, defeating top-seeded Leah Schmidt (sophomore) of Geneva, 6-4, 6-3, to win the No. 4 singles district title. Camacho is also undefeated this season at 15-0, competing across the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles positions.
In doubles play, sophomore
Lexie Adams and Barnhart earned a key semifinal victory over Circle Christian, 6-3, 6-4—one of the decisive results that helped propel TMA to regionals. The duo went on to finish as runners-up, falling to top-seeded Geneva, 6-1, 6-3, in the championship match.
At No. 1 doubles, senior
Amarelye Camacho and freshman
Brie Gonzalez battled in the semifinals before falling to top-seeded Geneva, 6-2, 6-2.
