Burkhead Drives In 4 To Lead Master's Academy Eagles Past Lake Highland Prep Varsity Highlanders

Burkhead drove in four runs on three hits to lead Master's Academy Eagles past Lake Highland Prep Varsity Highlanders 17-0 on Thursday at Lake Highland Preparatory School. Burkhead doubled in the third scoring two, hit a home run to center field in the fourth scoring two, and singled in the second scoring one.

Master's Academy Eagles scored nine runs in the second inning on the way to victory. Peri singled, scoring one run, Moya singled, scoring one run, Mennenga grounded out, scoring one run, Williams grounded out, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Burkhead singled, scoring one run, Catalano singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.

A ground out by McMeel put Master's Academy Eagles on the board in the top of the first.

A double by Burkhead, and an error helped Master's Academy Eagles extend their early lead in the third.

Four more Master's Academy Eagles runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 17-0. McMeel doubled, scoring one run, Martin singled, scoring one run, and Burkhead homered to center field, scoring two runs.
Peri earned the win for Master's Academy Eagles. The hurler allowed zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. Kennedy took the loss for Lake Highland Prep Varsity Highlanders. The hurler went one and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs (five earned) on six hits, striking out none and walking two.
