Master's Academy Varsity Eagles Defeats Mount Dora Christian Academy On Back Of Clutch Display From Martin

Martin drove in six runs on two hits to lead Master's Academy Varsity Eagles past Mount Dora Christian Academy 12-9 on Thursday. Martin doubled in the second inning, scoring three runs, and hit a home run to center field in the sixth inning, scoring two.  Both offenses were strong at the plate as Master's Academy Varsity Eagles collected nine hits and Mount Dora Christian Academy five in the high-scoring affair.

Master's Academy Varsity Eagles got on the board in the top of the first inning after Peri hit into a fielder's choice, Martin grounded into a fielder's choice, and Moya reached on catcher's interference, each scoring one run.  A double by Martin extended the Master's Academy Varsity Eagles lead to 6-1 in the top of the second inning.  Master's Academy Varsity Eagles added one run in the third. Mount Dora Christian Academy committed an error, making the score 7-1.  Mount Dora Christian Academy tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a solo home run to center field by Bowman, and a sacrifice bunt by Richardson.  In the top of the sixth, Master's Academy Varsity Eagles broke up the tie when Peri doubled, scoring one run. Then a home run to center field by Martin followed to extend the lead to 10-7.

Catalano earned the win for Master's Academy Varsity Eagles. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits and three runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking two. Devries took the loss for Mount Dora Christian Academy. The hurler went three and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs on four hits, striking out none and walking one. Peri stepped in the circle first for Master's Academy Varsity Eagles. The starter gave up three hits and six runs over four innings, striking out three and walking four. Farr began the game for Mount Dora Christian Academy. The hurler surrendered four hits and four runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out none and walking three.

Burkhead, Peri, Martin, and Williams each collected two hits for Master's Academy Varsity Eagles. Williams stole two bases. Master's Academy Varsity Eagles had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Master's Academy Varsity Eagles stole five bases in the game.

Paulk, Mount Dora Christian Academy's number seven hitter, led the team with two hits in four at-bats. Richardson and Roberts each drove in two runs for Mount Dora Christian Academy. Bayly led Mount Dora Christian Academy with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Roberts stole two bases.
