TMA TAKES SILVER IN ORANGEWOOD TOURNAMENT
October 23, 2011
PIZARRO NAMED TO ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM
The Master’s Academy ended the regular season on a high note as they won the silver medal game at the Orangewood Tournament of Champions this past weekend.
On Friday, TMA started slowly as they dropped the first two matches. The King’s Academy of West Palm Beach defeated the Eagles, 2-0. In the second match, Dwyer High School of Palm Beach Gardens beat the Eagles, 2-1. However, in the final match of pool play on Friday, TMA defeated Trinity Christian from Lake Worth, Florida by a final of 2-0. On Saturday morning, TMA played Foundation Academy in the first round of the silver bracket playoffs and won 2-0. The silver bracket championship game pitted the Eagles against Trinity Christian in a rematch of Friday night’s game. The Eagles’ consistent play ultimately made the difference in their winning the silver medal, 2-0. Gabi Pizarro’s outstanding play throughout the weekend earned her a selection to the all tournament team. It was a fitting finish for senior Pizarro. Her senior teammate, Danielle Tatro, was honored at the Trinity Prep Invitational Tournament in early September for being the best defensive player, and senior teammate, Jenna Johnson, was named to the all tournament team in Oak Hall two weeks ago. With Pizarro’s award this weekend, all three of the seniors have been honored in tournament play this year.
The Master’s Academy travels to Daytona Beach for the first round of the district tournament playoffs against Father Lopez on Tuesday, October 25th. The winner will play on Thursday, October 27th for the district championship against the winner of the Warner Christian-Lake Mary Prep game.
