SENIORS DOMINATE IN CIRCLE WIN, 3-0
We tend to like stories with happy endings. Such was the case Tuesday night in the TMA gymnasium as The Master’s Academy hosted Circle Christian School on Senior Night.
The Lady Eagles honored their three seniors—Gabi Pizarro, Jenna Johnson, and Danielle Tatro—who were playing in their last regular season home game. The three seniors were recognized in a pregame ceremony as a video collage of their lives was shown on the silver screen. Following the ceremony, both teams took the floor. TMA played smoothly throughout the night winning each set decisively (25-13, 25-12 and 25-19). The key to such rhythmic play was TMA’s serve-receive. Tatro, returning to the floor after being out with an injury, made a difference in how well the Lady Eagles transitioned from defense to offense. Tatro was able to accurately receive the serve and pass the ball to Pizarro, who set the ball perfectly for the big hitters—Johnson and Jordyn Macbeth. Macbeth hit the ball harder in this match than in any other match this year. Both Johnson and Macbeth were aggressive in attacking the net. The final point of the match came when Tatro received the serve and passed to Pizarro, who then set the ball nicely to Johnson. Johnson’s final explosive swing won the point, and the Lady Eagles celebrated. This was a fitting end to a storybook night.
The Master’s Academy travels a short distance to play Oviedo High School on Thursday, October 20th. First serve is at 7PM. This weekend, TMA will be playing in the Orangewood Invitational Tournament in Maitland, Florida.
